Knowing she loves a good woodland theme, I made my sister an invitation to have a Sister’s Tea Party at my new house. I was inspired by the wondrous tea party my mother and sister threw for me as my bridal shower (that’s another magical tale to be told 🙂 ) and an article my mom found where these lovely girls were having an adorable luncheon in their wedding dresses. My sister and I looked at each other and without words knew that we were going to do just that. We both just got married recently-my sister in 2014 and me a year later in 2015. Her wedding was outside at dusk just past a garden with roses and trees dripping with pears, so I thought this would be fitting for her.
This was my 2nd attempt at a pen and watercolor painting. I think I’ll continue to experiment with this process. I rather liked it.
I started with a woodland creature interpretation of my sister and I. My sister is the sweet bunny in her wedding dress, shoes and headpiece. I’m the fox, since I’m a redhead, in my dress and whole ensemble. Here are some images of us for your reference 🙂
So there you go. That’s us 🙂 Photos of my wedding directly above are by Shireen Dadkhah of Just Shireen (She’s also the lovely girl on the far left of my sister’s wedding party pic in the top grouping).
I wanted my sister to have to “open” the invitation so I stitched on these gates to the garden party with a tag that says, “You’re Invited,” a velvet ribbon to secure the gates and a lock and key charm.
Oh, and I made her a woodland headdress to wear using items like ribbon, moss, ceramic mushrooms, a tiny tea set, feather butterflies, wire antlers, and various flowers 🙂 Enjoy!
