Soooooooooooooo it’s been a long time since I have posted something new. Well, I’m in a new era. An era of exploration, and finding myself as an artist again by making new work. I am trying to think less, and just do. Do it scared. Do it imperfectly. I can rework a picture. I can add to it, start over even, but I can’t edit a blank page.
I have started a new series of work that is unlike anything I’ve ever created before and I love these lil ladies. I was really nervous, trying something more abstract, but I’m hooked.
I’m sure many can relate to what my husband calls “hair monsters,” whether you’re the creator or perhaps the finder of the hair glob stuck on the shower wall. I lost a decent amount of hair after giving birth and shower hair monsters became somewhat of a regular thing. Sometimes, I’d forget to take them down. Sometimes, I’d see different shapes and figures in them, like an abstract work of art. I thought it would be funny to bring to light a beautiful little figure from the flowing organic lines of the hair wad. Very few lines were added and most are traced over actual lines of hair in the photograph.

Who do you see? How are they posed?
