3D Work

Spiderweb Dewdrop Body Necklace. Chain, irridescent glass beads, head pins, vintage garter clips

It’s been awhile since I’ve made any three dimensional work, but I felt inspired to try something new, something I’ve always loved but would never dare to wear myself, a body jewelry piece. To be fair, I didn’t make the spiderweb chain, but I found the right tools and materials, through lots of trial and error, figured out how to add all the beaded embellishments, and handstitched the vintage garter clips. I am a bit obsessed with dewdrops so this a was must to make. I am the chaos goblin kind of artist that likes collecting stuff. I have to find places to store the random stuff, but having it and finding the perfect project for it is so much fun. Even if it takes years for them to find their final purpose. I’ve had these garter clips for YEARS, and when I tried the necklace on, I noticed it was the perfect length.

Once I spied this spiderweb chain necklace on Etsy, I knew this is where I was going to start and live out my fairy paper doll dreams. Like literally, though, I’ve had a paper doll since I was little that I have always loved and cherished, and it has inspired many of my art works. Here is said paperdoll:

I’m grateful for a mom that fostered creativity, let me buy a naked ballerina paper doll as a little girl, and helped train my eye to find cool random stuff. Anyways, perhaps, at some point, I’ll post a picture of the necklace in action.
